fix rod tip by sliding in tip section?

Busted tip off rod and have like 3" to the next guide. I have another rod tip section I can slide into the rod I need to repair.

If I fix this way will I loose sensitivity will it hold up?
I hate to cut it to the next guide and loose length and rod action.

Put a tip on it as is probably the best option. 3” from tip to next guide won’t be an issue.

Take a good look at your blank, anything you can slip in, if it is even possible will be extremely light and fragile.

IMO sliding another section of blank into the tip, if it is at all possible, is going to change the action of the rod even more than simply slipping on a new tip top. You'd want just as much of the added piece sticking out as you'd have hidden inside the blank needing repaired. It would stiffen that area immensely and my guess is that it would cause the rod to break even further from the tip. And yes it would definitely affect the sensitivity of the blank. You're adding more weight close to the tip. Not a good thing for the sensitivity of the rod.

As walnutshoe said, just put a new tip top on it.
