    New trailers ?

For those that have replaced their trailer, what brands and models are you going to?

I’ve been looking for a couple months now for a replacement for my 202. I found a brand new Shorelandr that the dealer promises will work for my boat. It has only 2 10’ bunks, it’s a 4000lb trailer and only has 13” tires on a tandem axle. It says rated for up to a 20’ boat but at 5800 bucks, I wouldn’t mind someone from here weighing in on it. As for your question, there are several custom places down in southern states that can make you a trailer but time wise some are backed up til fall.

Championbassjim, that doesn't sound like a deal I would consider. Sounds like that trailer barely meets the minimums. That would be a no go for me. For that kind of money I bet a guy could get a well equipped aluminum trailer. I'd be looking at an aluminum if I was replacing. IMO for the price difference it would be money well spent in the long run.

Don't waste your money on another rust bucket chinese steel painted trailer.
You can get a lifetime aluminum for the same cost. Check around, you probably have a builder close. A lot of guys have come here to Seadrift and gotten Coastlines, they are all really happy.

This is the only way to go. My 1998 Champ 203 is now sitting on one from Coastline. It is an awesome trailer.

Throw up some pictures so everyone can see what a really well done trailer looks like under a champ.

I tried to order a Coastline based on Pat's recommendation. They couldn't spec one based on my 1998 Champion 221 description. They said I had to bring the trailer in. It's too long a drive from Minnesota. I wish I could just take pictures and measurements and have them build one and ship it to me.

If you drag it down to Seadrift, we can go chase redfish for a day while they finish it out. Can't do that in Minnesota.

I sat and stared at my trailer for an hour the other day thinking about how to make it a swing tounge. I trusted the previous owners tape measure skills and its 3 inches to long to fit in my garage...

Been thinking about a new trailer.

Did you have to take measurements or did you just bring the boat and trailer there and drop it off for a little while? Also did the cut the angles on the back of the trailer to match the hull, like the OEM trailer?

    Absolutely.
Just remember my little boat isn't a party boat. I can squeeze three on it, but it's way happier with two.
And there's a dark side, ONE 30" red caught in the back lake might make you sell your bass stuff, sell the house and migrate south. It did me.

    1. Yes, my 1998 was the first for this color scheme. It was my custom color design with a little help from the Champion dealership.
    2. No, it is not a swing away tongue
    3. I made an appointment for a Thursday, got there on Wednesday, they built the trailer in one day on Thursday, and then I left Friday morning.
    4. No, they do not cut the angles in the rear but it still looks awesome.

The biggest bummer was my schedule didn't allow me to meet up with Pat and do some red fishing. I always wanted to meet Pat since he is the Champion guru and has been so helpful to all of us Champion owners.
