    split shot weight

    IK-137347 Silver BB Lead 36
    IK-137348 Silver 3/0 Lead 10
    IK-137349 Silver #7 Lead 10
    IK-137350 Silver #5 Lead 8


    is this a good starting set for split shot or what sizes should I get?

    There is another thread on splitshotting, on the fishing tips forum. I've done it a lot and it's a great way to catch 'em. I like #1 splitshot, but as small as #4 is ok. Be sure you get ROUND splitshot and STAY AWAY from the "removeable" type...they are very prone to snagging on anything and everything. Round splitshot are surprisingly snag resistant. Use ONE, and never more than ONE...much snaggier. I have not tried the "Clam Shot", but they may be better...or worse....than the round ones.

    I've always used a 6'6" "medium" rod that I would rate as a ML, paired with 8 lb. test copolymer. Landed a carp that was around 8 lbs with it, and SM up to 4 lbs. 11 oz., LM to 4 lbs. 8 oz. Really good on submerged roadbeds. While it will work in deeper water if dead calm, normally good to 15' depth.
