    Insurance covering motor?

I know I saw someone mention there is an insurance company out there that will insure your motor powerhead along with the rest of your boat. Anyone have a name?

I had mechanical failure coverage from Travelers. Only place that offered it at the time anyway. Recommended by Bob at Worldwide Marine

Almost all insurance will cover the motor for collision, theft, etc.

If you are asking about mechanical breakdown I know of no insurance that does that. What you are looking for is one of those extended warranties that all the phone spammers try to sell you.

Yes, there are companies out there that do. Call Ben Green insurance 626-290-0888 he is a fellow bass fisherman that specializes in boat insurance. He will help you out even if you don’t have insurance through them.

The propulsion plus only covers the lower unit. I had this discussion with Bob earlier this year.

yes. Less than 10 years old to get the coverage. Once you have it it will not be dropped until you drop it regardless of boat age.

Very good. I will check with Travelers. It's a 2012 SHO so i better get in soon with that 10 yr limit. Only 89hrs on it though. Anyone actually had a claim with them? Good expertise with the claim?

Do you use the boat? I have a 2021 engine with 20 hrs on it already.

OK , just so I'm clear this covers a mechanical failure not caused by an impact with something in the water. That sounds like a no brainer. I've really got to rethink my coverage.

Ok...I just got off the phone with travelers..I think some have misunderstood what mechanical failure means: Per Travelers policy and representative, mechanical failure DOES NOT cover wear and tear, it will cover failure due to an "event" The factory warranty will be the only coverage you will have for engine REPAIRS due to a non collision type accident. They (Travelers) are talking engine specific. 1-888-695-4625 Travelers phone number if you have any questions.

I bought it with those hours on it. That guy obviously didn't use it much. Win for me! There is a company out there that will cover your blown outboard motor, this is a fact, I have seen guys talk about it recently. So guys saying this doesn't exist just don't know that it does indeed excist. Hence the reason for the post in the beginning. I'll keep searching. Thanks for the input
