Buy a code reader for peace of mind. If not, Autozone and have them read the code.

Accurate. Used that method a few times for sure.

Code readers are cheap. I picked one up from walmart to keep in my console so I didn't have to worry about having issues on the way to Autozone or wherever to just have a code read. Lesson learned from my old Jeep. It came in handy a few weeks ago when I had a CEL and idle issues. New throttle position sensor and back in business.

    ok here's the UPDATE

code: P0521 - Engine oil pressure sensor

this has happened before with this vehicle, maybe a year or 2 ago. Took it to the garage and the guy changed it, but said it was a pain to get to. Said he almost couldn't do it, but luckily had a skinny high school kid who could reach it

said it was on the motor closest to the cab. Think he charged maybe $250

so, knowing this what would you guys do now, and thanks!!

Well, he lied to you. I have replaced 2, I am NOT a mechanic and I am NOT a skinny high school kid. If he didn't have the right tools to get to it, then he is not much of a mechanic.

Watch Youtube and you can do it yourself. Also, replace the screen/filter while you are at it.

Its a pain in the azz, yes. Make sure you replace it with a Delco unit, and replace the little filter screen under it at the same time. We would charge $275 to replace it, so hes not bad on the price.

This is not easy. It is a pain in the ass, but certainly doable. Just need to piece the right socket combination to reach it and become a monkey or get in the engine well.

I have to agree with this. A good friend has a GM Traverse and a front cat was bad, {common issue with a misfire} He could not find anybody here in town out of 4 shops that wanted to tackle it, we had already fixed the misfire, the dealership said yes but it was $$$$. I told him I would help him do it. So he dropped it off at my house at lunch time. When I got home from work with the new cat, looked at it and replaced it in less that 30 min. With the tools to get to a bolt that was everybody's issue I guess. I picked him up in it, he looked puzzled and asked if it would be too hot to work on and I told him nope, it was already done! I had worked for him for a number of years as his lead mechanic, so I am guessing he was not too surprised. Anyway things are getting pretty sad anymore to get just about anything done, that is why I do most everything myself. CJ

Sits right under the oil pressure switch. Unscrew the switch, and grab it with pliers. Put a new one in. Then screw the new switch in. 99% of the time the screen is clogging causing this, so I always change them both.

I'd reset the alert and see if it comes back before I got too deep into it.

Definitely have it checked. I have the same year truck and had a misfire on cylinder 7. It went away and was running fine until the lifter froze on cylinder 7. Yes the one that froze was the one that is involved in stepping down the motor from 8 cylinders to 4. Glad I had the extended warranty and all my service records as that repair isn't cheap.
