As I get deeper into the idea of repowering my '02 Intimidator I'm faced with thoughts of increasing the size of my Bob's jackplate. My current set up is a 6" hydraulic with 2" spacers. What length should I go with? My home water is a tidal river which basically runs North and South. Add a strong North wind to an incoming tide and you've instantly got 4' rollers or vise versa with a South wind and outgoing. During these runs my 20'er loves spearing waves. (Not so fun in late October or Early Spring). I've got years of experience timing the waves but it seams almost impossible to not spear one in heavy conditions with this boat. My last boat a 20' Basscat was much easier to keep on top of the water. That boat had a 14" jackplate. Of course being a Gambler man I want every ounce of top speed I can get, but would love to also stay dry on those cold windy days. I should mention my repower would be with a brand new 225 ProXS two stroke. Also planning on all Lithium batteries as well
