Need a favor from ox66 owner

I need someone to check if their prop shaft moves in and out. Mine moves about 1/4 of an inch. Im trying to figure out why my prop rubs my lu housing. If its from prop shaft movement or wrong thrust washer? Thanks

I bought my current boat about 1-1/2 years ago and discovered the same issue you are describing. It was the wrong thrust washer. Link to that thread...

Slight movement is ok but that’s too much. If you pull the prop and the shaft doesn’t move then the prop/washer is definitely suspect.

Pull up a parts diagram to get an idea of the prop shaft parts stack and identify the thrust bearings etc for setting shaft thrust tolerance. If you don't have already, get a service manual. I can't remember where I located the manual for the 2001 I use to service.
