Prop Shaft moves in and out

I noticed my prop shaft has about 1/4 inch play in and out is this normal? I wonder if this is why i have the rubbing issue In my other post?

Never seen any gear box in any type of equipment have that much lateral movement. The gears are meant to align with a specific pattern to one another and the main load bearing shaft needs to be set with the specified thrust from the manufacturer.
That said I have no idea what LU you are talking about .
It would be nice if people put their boat/motor info into their signatures.

I did put my big boy pants on and pulled the unit apart and found that the bolts to the bearing housing where loose. I tightened them up and the shaft has no play now. I'm trying to figure out how to put a signature with my boat info on it but I'm not to computer savvy.

Good job at finding the issue. Ask yourself what caused the bolts to be loose?
    Signature is found under settings,

Manual recommends loctite 572 which I believe is a low strength and thread sealer. CJ

I've always used red loctite. Back in the day, red was for threads, blue for cylinders. Not sure of the numbers nowadays, just don't use the stuff that needs heat to break em free.
