    2012 z521 repower

Re powering my 12 z521 and having a hard time deciding between mercury and Suzuki. I’m a crappie guide and do not care the slightest about speed. Sure it’s nice, but I want to know that motors going to get me from a to b every time I turn the key. I can get a new merc within 5-10 days and a Suzuki between 10-20 days. I put around 250hrs/yr on my motors and most generally carry 2-3 passengers plus myself, full live wells and too much gear... Do I run with the merc or wait for the Suzuki?

I got lucky and found a merc that’s being shipped currently that a person had to back out on. I’m not far from you over in Como...

The Fury 4 doesn't have a very good track record of keeping all 4 blades intact.

A fury 3 should give good all around performance with the 250 PRO XS. The hole shot, compared to your 2s will be a significant improvement. I would start with all the vent holes open and only add plugs if you have over ventilation on takeoff.

Thank you... what pitch. I see people back and forth with 23,24.

what about the bravo (xs or fs) for a 4 blade? What pitch on that for hole shot and mid range and handling?

a 23 p Fury will probably work best and I doubt you will be able to turn a 24p to the recommended WOT rpm of 6200. I do not know about a Bravo.
