    If I remember that is a 5/8 nut. So a 5/8 socket with an extension should do it for you.

    Yes. Red is the 12 volt supply. Blue is up green is down

    If you were simply trying to wire in a blinker-trim switch, there's no need to remove the control handle (access the harness between the control handle and the keyswitch harness).
