    Using as ghs hs puck

I have always been under the impression to set units to true north settings instead of magnetic.
These settings are for the GPS antenna ??
True and magnetic are about 7 degs. off ??
After the wealth of info i have gained on this board, seems to me i should be running magnetic north
on the units that are using the AS GPS HS . Correct ??

True North is where the longitude lines meet at the top and bottom of a global map.
Magnetic North is where the North Pole is and that moves.

GPS doesn't do Magnetic North, a Heading Sensor does.

The degrees difference is different depending when on the planet you are.
The physical difference is also different depending on how far from those points you are.

True North will match the GPS position and Course.

Thanks for asking this question. I have also wondered which I should be using since I do have an AS GPS HS puck and typically use that as the source for both GPS & Heading.

In the insulation guide. Humminbird says to change it to magnetic for the AS GPS HS. Which one is it?

Does your unit have the Magnetic North setting in the Nav menu that the antenna manual shows?

It's a Helix 9 MSI G3N. If I remember correctly. It has true North and magnetic. I do have the AS GPS HS hooked to the unit.

I have the Helix 10 CHIRP MEGA DI+ GPS G3N on my desk with a AS GPS HS connected, tracking 11 satellites, and that setting is in the Chart tab.
With Magnetic selected, the readout is 182 degrees m, and with True selected, the readout is 172 degrees t.
