    Prop Question

Now that the new Merc has been out a few years...is the general consensus for a 3 blade prop still a 23p Fury 3? This is on a 205. I currently have a 24p Fury 4, which came on the motor when I bought the boat. I’ve been satisfied with it, but would like to get a few more MPH’s, as that would make a big difference with some of the runs I make. I’m not a prop nut by any means, and don’t have the time to be testing out different props. I’m just curious what others have found to work best for stock props. If it is as simple as a 23p Fury 3, then I’m good with that. But I’m definitely open to other manufacturers as well if someone found a gem that really outperforms others.

    Thanks!

Can't seem to beat the 23 Fury for good all round performance and top speed on the 205. i did call Mark Croxton about getting a prop for Great Lakes and power in big waves. he recommended his 4 blade Razor in a 22 pitch. Awesome acceleration, handling and lift. Runs at 6200 rpm. Offers great bow lift at will. 3 mph slower on top but great everywhere else. Perfect for what I was looking for. Definitely more responsive than the Fury for putting the bow in the air when needed.

Thanks for the responses fellas. I’ll have to check out that 4 blade. I do a fair amount of Great Lakes fishing myself, which is one reason I didn’t mind having the 4 blade. But it sounds like it could be better!

I have a 215 and you can't beat the 3 blade 23 fury. Testing a 4 blade 22 fury just to have as a spare.

I have run both 3 and 4 blades on my 205....23p fury is your best 3 blade...but IMO after testing 6 props a 25P Bravo 1 XS not an FS but an XS is the best I have run yet on that boat! you loose maybe 1-1.5 mph (maybe) and the holeshot, mid range and handeling will blow your mind.

They are not.....the FS has more surface area across the lower part of the blade you can put a mic on it and see it (everyone believes they are the same but per the prop guys I have talked to they are not). They 100% turn different then an XS...I have spun 4 of them now between the F and X and the X always turns 200 rpm more in the same pitch and has a much better holeshot (note I ran the F with all 4 holes open and the X with with 4 plugged and 4 open).
