I did similar....was doing a quick weld job to make a tool I needed...welded one side, and as I tried to flip it over so I could weld the other side it fell over and I grabbed it.....bare handed......
I did let go really really quickly.....and then proceeded to say things I'm not sure I ever said before.....

Yea, that's a pretty good moronic move. Two weeks ago I took my phone from my pocket to look at the time and somehow the phone, all of one month old (I-phone 11), ended up in very deep water in Smith Mountain Lake. Even though I was standing in what is supposed to be my yard and I was at least 30 feet from the bank. A combination of being a klutz, a strategically placed piece of granite, a phone that bounces more than you could possibly imagine, and a very steep hill/cliff. I'd wager the entire episode took 0.25 seconds. But at least it didn't leave a mark.
