    Back at it again.........

    Hi guys,
    I'm back at it again but at a slower pace on my Sprint 280 PRO after sometime off from surgery recovery. Those who have a 90's Merc V6 know about the coils and the Merc manual actually telling the owner to properly arrange the coil wires to keep them from cross firing......It's down right funny and a clearly dumb design. So (obviously) I opt'd to make a coil plate similar to the ones used on the 225x/ProMax. Much cleaner routing of the plug wires and in general, looks a hell'va lot better in my opinion...........

    Thank you Michael, you know, it's a labor of love and a slow going but I'll get there !
    Hoping to fire it up next week for the first time, fingers crossed ! Still have some wiring to do, Nav lights, pumps etc.

    Update time:

    Weather and Honey-Do's have set me back a bit.

    A week ago I finally put fire to the beast only to be very, very disappointed in the out come, serious back firing, spitting, sputtering, shaking real hard at idle, wouldn't stay running etc. During all this I became very frustrated as I'm pretty good at doing things right the first time and because I was so pizz'd off about this happening, I forgot to turn on the water hose again during the last restart/adjustments attempt.....needless to say I toasted my water pump..... (dumb on my part).

    Water pump on order.....one week delivery (can't find anything in stock these days anymore
    )

    Put the boat back in the garage after this disappointing series of events and back to the manual I went. Well after reading and studying again and comparing what's in the Merc manual among the Switch Box equipped V6's listed for ignition wiring..............

    WELL.......SURPRISE-SURPRISE,
    The Merc manual wiring diagram is wrong for the 175HP EFI motor, yeah, of all the motors it had to be mine........ Stripped all the wiring down and started from square one using the 150 HP EFI wiring diagram (ignition's the same). Hope to fire it up again this week with better results (with the water hose turned on
    ).

    That's a Merc Sport Master case. I started to build a Merc XR6 case for it but then this 15" Sport Master Lower Unit became available so I went with it.
