What Line for pitching a 1/2 oz. Jig?

Question? What type and weight would be used pitching a 1/2 oz. jig, mono, Fluorocarbon, or braid? Just started pitching a 1/2 oz. jig using 30# Power Pro.

20# Floro leader to your 30# braid is my set up and seems to work well around reeds and rocks.

What knot do you like to tie to join braid to leader on a flipping stick?

I use the "Shin" knot. One of the easiest, fastest, smallest, and strongest that I have found !!!

I'm partial to straight 20 lb Seaguar Invizx. No braid. No knots.

If I'm fishing anything except wood I prefer braid, 30-40 pound.

If I'm fishing wood I will use anywhere from 17-25 pound flouro.

ideally I'd like to use braid in grass and weeds but in reality I just use 20lb fluoro because that's what I spool up on my flipping rod

This is a great guide to line selection by lure. Might sway your choice. I’ve referred to it for years.

Depends on cover and water clarity. Here in Florida, most guys are using 50 braid minimum and a lot are using 65. We have lots of heavy cover and stained water is pretty common.

50 lb braid. Heavy weed cover, pitching, dock skipping. 1/2 oz jig is my go to bait.

Usually 30# braid. We have heavy cover down here but I usually pitch 3/8 oz jigs because a 1/2 oz gets too deep for our muck bottoms.

I just bought and had great success with Sunline FC Sniper Flippin line. It has about 3' clear and then a foot of bright fluorescent green that makes it very easy to see. Tie bait on the clear section. 25 lb. for bushes-20 lb. for docks.
