    Jack Plate Recommendation

I'm getting ready to switch to a Rapid Jack jack plate. What size is recommended for my boat?

Call Steve at Hydrodynamics and ask him. He'll give you the proven size and setup.

I emailed Hydrodynamics asking for a recommendation. I only got a generic one line reply "most choose either an 8 or 10". What is the pros and cons between a 6",8", and a 10" jack plate. Do you lose some hole shot while gaining top end speed? How much gain between sizes? Thanks for any advice.

Pick up the phone and call Steve. He'll give you the details of which does what.

Put an 8" or a 10" on it. Either will work and there isn't any difference in the performance.

There a difference, I had 96 PII with a hopped up 3.0 L. 82 mph with a 8 in plate, with a 10 the chine was so bad I could not get more than 73, A 6 was good a 8 was perfect and the 10 just would not work
    Thank You Leon Pugh

I have a Atlas 10" on a TR-20X. That was what the size suggested when I purchased mine. Boat originally had a 6" manual jackplate from the factory.

Are you putting poles on it...because if you are you need the spacer mounts that go between your motor and the Rapid Jack Magnum and if you want 8" of set back you better have Steve build you a 7" because the spacer mounts are 1.5" which will give you 8.5" of set back...if you use them with an 8" you will have 9.5" of set back.

I'm not putting poles on it, so it doesn't affect the setback.

that 1.5" of extra set back wouldn't make any difference.
