    2018 cougar stress cracks

Wiping boat down at landing yesterday and I come across this. I don’t know what to think about it . 100 hours on boat, doesn’t make since . Will it get worse or do I deal with it now?2131CC27-50E6-49AD-BC2D-3D63A1B40E7A.jpeg

I think so too. Or a piece of debris flew up from your truck. That's not a typical spot for a stress crack.

take it to your dealer and let them deal with Basscat. Everything I hear about them is they are great with customer service. They are a sponsor here so you can ping them directly too.

As everyone pointed out, this is in one area and has a radius around the area of impact. It’s also a sliding impact as if something rubbed into the side. Which is why they migrate toward the lower side and go rearwards.

Looks like an insurance claim to me for road debris impact. An impact that it takes to do that would be an “O Sheite” moment on the lake.

I bet if you think real hard you'll remember hitting some debris off a truck in front of you. I'd explain that to my insurance agent and let them take care of it.

Looking at a picture I can't see how "road debris " could do this. I have hit a dock hard in the past and it did not resemble this at all. This looks to me like a hard impact but in a soft medium like water, there is no epicenter of a strike. Generally they don't keep spreading for no reason.

Guys, it’s a significant impact and it’s looks like continuous pressure, not a hit from debris. It could be a stump or protruding tree above water line also.

This isn’t a defect in my opinion. Take it to your dealer and have them talk with bass cat about best route go get it fixed. Should be a fix and never see again unless whatever impact that may of occurred hurt the glass. Which it doesn’t look so.

Possible deer/animal impact?? Had a buddy run over 3 deer with his boat, at once! Ran right into the side of it and never hit his truck. Just spitballing.

I’ve owned 5 Bass Cats, this is a first for me. I’m pretty sure if I’d hit something above the water I’d remember that impact. There’s no indication of being hit. I’m not complaining about the boat. I’ve blown in to stumps before , hard enough to get thrown out. If that was the case I would have remembered as anyone would. I know nothing about fiberglass, maybe I should. Thanks for the input.

There’s a good chance very good lighting will show an abrasion marks in front of the area. That is unless this happened some time ago and the cracks are only just appearing and the incident occurred months prior to the damage surfacing.

I'll get onboard with a deer being my soft medium. I would pull carpet up in rod locker and evaluate structural integrity may reinforce right away with glass then place the carpet back. And fish the hell out of it and come up with a story about how a dolphin t boned you while running across the Bermuda Triangle.
