I dont own the 894 but ive used them. It has a sweet tip imo. People say its the best 1/2oz jig rod there is. I think its a one trick pony for jigs and tx rigs.

I have owned one for a couple years. Primarily use it for 3/8-1/2oz jigs/football jigs, same weight range t-rigs, some lighter swing heads, occasionally a swim jig. Nice rod, falls in line with most NRX rods I have. It has a adequate tip section for these techniques, IMO

I really loved my 853. I found the 894 especially tip heavy and the 893 not as bad but still tip heavy. There are better jig rods at that length in my experience. NRX material is amazing but if the rod feels that awkward it will make it hard to fish with all day.

Mine has a 1/2 oz jig tied on 90% of the time. The other 10% would be a Texas rigged beaver style bait fished in heavy grass.

I had two NRX894's. I now have two Conquest 904s and like them much much better.

    X2

I love my Conquests for many applications, but when it comes to jigs/bottom contact I prefer the NRXs.

I could never see the big attraction to the Conquest. It's a more powerful rod if you fish waters where that makes a difference but it's certainly no more sensitive than NRX, if as sensitive.
If Loomis brings back the MBR tapers in NRX I wonder if the lineup in Conquest will change

I'm a huge fan of the NRX 894. For me it is a single hook rod. I have had great success burning worms with it over grass when I can find the situation and I catch a lot of senko fish around the same hydrilla. Most of the time I am throwing texas rigs and mag shakey heads with mine.

The rod is tip heavy and I use a balancing kit to make mine butt heavy.

NRX 894 is a favorite mine. Jigs, underspins and swim baits. I back it up with an NRX 873 and the NRX 893.

I have the NRX893c, 852s, 804c and 852c. I had the NRX 894c. I compared it to the Steez Bottom Contact and kept the Steez and sold the 894c. Reasons being: Fit and finish where just nowhere near the Steez (which is kind of known) and also the balance of the NRX (even with a 7+oz reel) was a lot worse. In terms of sensitivity the rods where very similar in my hands. The Steez actually felt a tiny bit more sensitive. But this would be splitting hair at this point.

One of the areas where the NRX is superior in my opinion is warranty.
