    Lake Hartwell conditions

Had a trip planned to Alabama April 9th, everything is way flooded out down there. Thinking about hartwell. Never been there but I always wanted to fish it. What are the lake conditions? Any tips on where to stay and where to launch. I will be coming from Kentucky. Around a 5 hour drive around the same as alabama. Just had a trip planned and would like to go somewhere.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Right now it's about 2 feet over full. Hartwell has fished tough the last 2 years. For better fishing you might consider Lanier or Russell. Russell is slam full of spots, and totally undeveloped (beautiful).
Last weekend Fishers of Men tournament Russell and every team had a limit except the one team that left early. You can stay at the Russell state park.
Lanier is full of 3+ lb spots.

Water is dirty up the tugaloo from gum log creek up and dirty on the Seneca around the mouth of 18 mile creek, and from coneross creek up. Water was 58-62 earlier in the week but today it was 55-59 depending on location after the cool nights. Water was starting to clear some up the Seneca today. Just depends on who you talk to as to how the lake is fishing.
