    Trailer brakes

I have a 2017 190, any rough idea on what it would cost to add brakes to my trailer.

When I purchased the same boat in 2017 I bought brakes with my trailer. That added about $450 to the cost. You may be able to DIY the brakes yourself for a bit less. I am no brake expert.

Check out etrailer.com. They have kits with everything you need to add trailer brakes.

My PT190 trailer brakes are Surge drum brakes. They do a nice job and don't require any electrical wiring or brake controllers.

I just re-did the brakes on my trailer. Assuming you have the 4-bolt flange on your axle, you will need the following to duplicate what Tracker equipped my trailer with:

    Tiedown Model 660 brake acuator
Demco brake assembly #SB40715, one left and one right
Matching drums depending on your bolt pattern
Bearings, seals, castle nut and cotter pin.
3/16" steel brake line and fittings
two rubber brake lines, one to go from frame to axle and one to connect the metal line to the actuator if you have a swing tongue.

$450 from the factory is a steal, that's over $500 just in parts (I purchased everything locally to make sure I got the right parts)

Repeat entire process every 3-5 years if you dip in saltwater.

If I were to start from scratch, I would do disc brakes. Easier to rinse off. I have 4-wheel discs on my masterCraft and they are incredible descending hills or emergency stops.
