A hole saw, how big?? I would never use a hole saw bigger than a speedo gauge. Put tape down and mark the hole, jig saw or air tool like a body saw. Use a fine tooth blade and you're good to go.

I cut in 5 inch speakers. Tape, fine saw and patience. Let the saw cut, don't rush it. Tape both front and back if you can access the back. I personall used a drill first and put a couple holes around the circumference and then used a jigsaw. Went pretty smoothly and turned out well.

I usually use my Rotozip knockoff that I got from Harbor Freight. Lay down some blue painters tape, make your outline on the tape and cut.
