    F200 on X19

Anyone seen an X19 with the 2.8L 4 cyl F200? For whatever reason I've been wondering how that motor would perform on that hull. I have an X19 with a 175 SHO and seen plenty with the V6 200. For me the 175 was fast enough, costs less, weighed less, looked better on that boat (small concern), and is based on a block that seems to have a bulletproof reputation. Those big block 200's make those little Xpress boats fly, especially when flashed.

I'm not sure what the big differences are between the F Series and the SHO series. Unless the tuning is way off I don't know why the smaller 200 wouldn't work well for these hulls. 1 HP = 1 HP right? Only thing I can figure is that it's a power curve thing or a marketing thing.

The 4.2 V6 SHO has much more torque than the 2.8 F200 and uses the torque to carry weight better.

You're right, the 200 SHO is great on these boats and will outperform the 4 cylinders in top speed and acceleration every time. But the 2.8 175 SHO is a good performer as well. The VF175 shares the same block as the F200. I'm mainly wondering why/if the VF175 is better than the F200 on this type of bass boat application.

I know I could've ordered a 200 SHO instead of the 175 if that's what I wanted. I made the decision to go with the small block and I'm satisfied with it. All of this is just my mind wandering. After making this post and thinking about it more I posted in the Yamaha forum.

I have that setup. F200 on x19. Not as fast as I read about with the vf200 but different gears as much as anything and weight. Don't see much about the vf 175 or f175. Mine will do 65 at 6000 light and do it all day on little gas. Don't open it up a lot but once a trip to keep things blown out. One guy on here told me years ago that I would probably be running years after his sho dies a sad and expensive death. His was flashed and ran super fast. I get there and back and maybe at my age till I die.

Thanks. How’s the hole shot and acceleration? What prop are you running?

No hole shot, it just goes! Vmax Sho T2 25P. No complaints, but am still working on PTP. Just can't leave well enough alone.

Thanks. Sounds like a good setup. My vf175 gets up and goes as well and is a couple of mph slower top end running a 23p Yamaha sho prop. If my vf175 had 25 more hp I’m guessing our numbers would be similar.
