    Favorite long gun

Now that we've pretty well covered favorite handguns, what's your favorite long gun? Is it for sentimental, performance, or how fancy it is?

Mine has to be Rem 700 Mtn Rifle in 7mm-08. Gets the job done and I've grown attached to it after lugging it for going on 30 years. A close 2nd is the Stevens Favorite "Crack shot" .22. Learned to shoot with it and it kept me company on a lot of bunny/squirrel/woodchuck/porcupine hunts

That question is a little easier to answer. Without a doubt, my favorite long gun is my grandpa’s old Glenfield 30A. It was in rough shape when I inherited it, as it was his primary deer hunting rifle for many decades. I had it Cerakoted and the stock dipped. I killed one deer with it the following year, and it has resided in my safe since. I need to get it back in the woods. It is a delight to hunt with, and my grandpa would not want it to be a safe queen.

I also favor a Rem. Mtn. rifle in 7mm-08, wife gave it to me for our 10th wedding anniversary back in 1989. A deadly combination with Hornady 139gr. SST’s. Very close behind but for much larger game is a Win. Custom Shop mdl. 70 in 358STA.

I have a sentimental connection to a Winchester sxr in 30/06 I got from an uncle it's pretty slick. But I would say my favorite is a dpms msr chambered in 243. The 243 6mm is pretty dang good on ballistics and leave everything in its wake from small vermin to coyotes and has smoked deer. I even double tapped a buck and my hunting party only heard one boom.

Rem R15 in .450 Bushmaster. I live in the south in an area where long range is 200 yards. I have killed dozens of deer with it and hundreds of hogs. The collapsable stock makes it easy to carry around in my SxS. Always there when I need it.

There are a couple. My favorite for long distance (500+) is an old 7mm mag savage model 110, next would be a pre 1964 winchester model 70 in 264 win mag, and currently hunt with a 270 Ruger American to keep the others from being scratched up. My all time favorite from growing up was a Remington model 7 6mm. Took a bunch of deer with that little riffle and super easy to handle. Most beautiful gun is a German 8mm mouser with tiger striped stock

My favorites are a pair of “sisters” that I had made a long time ago. Both are Remington 600s (not a typo) but only the receiver and bolt are original. They have Timney triggers, McMillan stocks and custom barrels. One is in 338Fed and the other is in 7mm-08. The 338Fed gets way more use. It is about due for another barrel! It downed my biggest buck too.

Love the Encores myself. And I think you’ll like that scope. Purchased the same model with the firedot reticle for my new Browning X-Bolt.

Mine would be my 700BDL VS in 7mm-08. Leupold 6.5-20 so I can see what I am shooting. Bought this gun around 1984-85. I loaded 115gr for ground hogs and a 140 Nosler BTBT load for deer. I have to throw in a second and that has to be my Springfield Armory M1A. I bought it in 89 with settlement money from my first house before getting divorced.

My favorite one to shoot is probably my Henry .22LR. I also like the 1956 Browning A5 that I inherited from my Grandfather. It doesn't get shot much anymore.
