2004 Champion 206 - Pairing the right Prop to a new Yami 4 stroke 250 SHO

Has anyone gone through the trouble to perfect The pairing of props for a 250 4 stroke YamiSHO to their Champion 206 Elite? I’d like to shorten the learning curve of course. What websites are most helpful? Any links to past threads where the same question was asked ?

a 24* / 25* SHO vmax prop should be a good place to start...did'nt it come with a Yami prop?

I've tried a Fury 24p,26p and a 25p SHO prop. The SHO preformed the best of the three.

My buddy swears by his Bravo 4 blade 26 pitch F/S short barrel on his 206/SHO combo. He's used the following props--(tempest, fury, T-1 with hole shot holes plugged)

I started with a 3 blade 25 tempest. That was what was on the 2 stroke. Picked up a tempest plus 23 pitch and as I break in, I only max top speed about a minute now that I’m into hours 3-10. The 23 pitch TP with all holes plugged is running 5850 rpm max to the floor, 62-65 mph. Once I’m above 10 hours, should I be trying to get more RPM and speed ?

PS I’m still learning the perfect hydraulic Jack plate setting too. But I think I have those set.

Jarod, I’m really happy with this combo. I got it specifically for bigger water fishing. LSC MI is my home waters. So far it seems to run over bigger waves and long runs without crushing the passengers vertebrae lol, or getting wet. I do loose screw checks frequently and so far so good. It’s heavy though. I don’t think it will ever do 70, but maybe the gents on this board can help me get there

I would have the motor flashed to a 300, then prop it!

Right now, with engine fresh broken in, the Tempest 2 3 blade 23 p gives a nice hole shot, 5950-6000 rpm and tops out at 69 mph... be very careful if you have a hydraulic Jack plate, the 3.5 under pad is only 0-1.5. Can’t run on plane with Jack plate above it or you will melt your impeller housing.

I've been thinking about repowering but I'm running 75 half tank and med load with my XB 26 Tempest Plus worked by Crox. Not wanting to loose 5 mph

But I'd be talking with Crox I'll bet he can help you.

They wouldn't know it was flashed unless you told them.

What do they know...they don't even have a solid break in plan for a 4 stroke to seat rings...I'm sure they want you to spend the extra ca$h for bigger number decals on the cowling rather than just upgrade the computer...but hey if you don't want to flash one stay on the porch because there is a lot of 200ish SHO's out there hurting a bunch of 250's feelings and holding together just fine...Nizpro has them spinning over 7g's and they are not comming apart.
