    200hp 2002 Vmax holeshot issue

We just purchased a 2002 Basscat Pantera Classic with a 200 Vmax. Prop is a 25M, PTP is 3.5". The boat had not been ran very much in the past two years. I let it warm up and go to take off. Punch the throttle down and it stands up the boat and then shuts off. I can get in on plane by running the throttle up slowly at what seems about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and it gets on plane. If you give it too much throttle it shuts down or completely off. Once on pad you can run it wide open without any hesitation at all. I did not catch the rpms when trying to get on pad. Only had enough room to get up to 66mph and then shut it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a Yamaha 25M. Is there more than 1 type?

Sounds more like a fuel restriction to me. Once it gets on plane, will it run wide open?

Once on plane it runs just fine. We can bury the throttle with no issue. Bury the throttle coming out the hole and it will die.

Did you check your 02 sensor. Mine was doing stupid stuff and changed my sensor. Just thinking out the box

We changed the 2 fuel filters and it ran fine until the oil filters gave problems, changed the oil filters and now the water pump needs changed. Like I said the boat sat for 2 years. They need to be ran. We will get ahead of it soon.
