Clorox wipes work good. Just wipe the cork down . Easy to do and the cork looks new.

Magic Eraser with Dawn. Scrub lightly until clean. Let dry thoroughly, and then apply U40 sparingly until it reaches saturation point.
    I reapply every few years.

I just use whatever bathroom cleaner I have that has bleach in it and a wet toothbrush. They look brand new when I'm done, and haven't seen any negative effects. Been doing it that way for years.

Lots of ways to skin the cork cat. It doesn't seem to be to picky. I tried the magic eraser method, and while it does work, it made to much of a mess for me. Went back to spraying the cork with tuff stuff and wiping it off hard with a towel.

Simple Green and an old toothbrush. Be careful using anything that will suck the oils out of the cork, drying it out and making it prone to flaking off.

If you really want to restore the core to like-new you can fill in the pores with wood putty. That is pretty much what was in there anyway. Sand it smooth and it will take off all the dirt with it. Will look like new until they get dirty and the filler falls back out.
