    Ultrex Rear Pivot Bushings

These are wearing out way too fast. The last set lasted a month.
Any tips on what to look for that's causing the premature wear?

Sounds like your mount is in a twist and causing excessive wear on your bushings. Loosen the mounting bolts one at a time until it will lift and return with ease.

I agree with Mitch. Sounds like you have a twist in the mount.

How do you replace the bushings and how important are they?

Agreed, sounds like uneven loading within the bracket, recheck installation for possible twist as they've said above.

I put a set of these machined bushings on mine and they are working out excellent so far.

Just ordered a set of them. The originals can be found for .95 a piece but I’ve blown out like 3 sets in the last 2 months of fishing. I have no idea why but they just fall out and split in half. Probably because the mount is bent like others said. My last set lasted 1 day. I have 20 plastic ones on order too. I’m going to the ghost in June so i figure if each bushing lasts me 3 days I’ll be good.

I replaced my rear pivot bushings last summer. Not too bad of a job. I did by a few extras just in case it happens again. I wish I knew about the Delrin machined bushing before!

Just ordered a couple sets of the delrin bushings and they made the shipping label at 6:30pm Tuesday so cudos to the company for trying to made the customers happy. I will be able to give reviews after a bit.

This is too fast. Mine usually last a year but honestly the last six months of those are probably over due.

I have a slight twist in my mount as well. It's very minor, if I rest the motor down in just won't latch, if I pull the cable it will fall in place, and if I drop it just a little it will latch. I tried adjusting the bolts for hours and can get it to sit 100% flat. I haven't noticed any wear yet on the bushings... I like those aftermarket ones tho.

You have to keep trying, but at some point it may be the the base is twisted. You may be overtightening the bolts also. They do not have to be gorilla tight.

I loosened all the bolts so they had a lot of play in them . That did nothing. I then put a little lube on several of the moving parts and nothing there either . Then I put the smallest amount of lube where the locking mechanism meets the bracket and it slid right in . I think the when the lube wears off the next time I might take a file or something to the mount and make the slanted spot where it hits a little more vertical . I would leave enough there to make sure there is still a good catch .

I received my parts today in 3 days, pretty amazing for Louisiana to ND, I put them in and my trolling motor now latches without effort. Will stop in again after using the ultrex for a complete review
