AVX1980 Console Electronics

I'm looking at an 1980 with an 8 inch Helix in the console. The dealer tells me that is the largest unit that fits in the console but when I look at the website, it looks like you can order up to a 10?

It's a factory rigged boat so I am wondering if the dealer just doesn't want to go through the hassle of swapping it out. When I look at the website, it looks it is about a 1k difference to upgrade from 8 to 10.

So if the Helix 8 is a Mega SI it should be a simple swap if you get a Helix 10 Mega SI. The only trouble might be that the hole in the dash plate may have to be larger. If that is the case the dealer would either have to cut it or order a new dash plate from Vexus. I am not sure.

My new Vexus I'm picking up this week has a 10 helix in the dash. I pulled it and getting a BBT dual mount so I will have the Helix 10 and a Lowrance 12 Live in front of me.
