Close the lid on one, step on one, lose one overboard because of no grip in the hands and then 1 or 2 for the wife's casualties. Once in a while not having them strapped down. Never intentionally broke one or threw it overboard because i lost a fish or tournament though.

I use almost all iRods, but the Dobyns 705CB is good enough for cranking, but I hate glass rods. The Fury 705CB is a bit lighter, but the Colt 705 feels almost exactly the same, but $40 cheaper.

+1 for the Berkeley lightning rod. I use the 7 foot medium for shallow medium depth crank baits, jerk baits. I noticed they are on sale at bps for 29.99 if you have another rod to trade in. Last year I caught a 9 pound largemouth with this rod and did t have any issues with it.

Slightly over budget but I’d go with a shimano intenza glass rod.

Honestly the Okuma Status VI from DSG is a great cranking rod for square bills to 10’ divers. I tried one out and liked it so much I bought a couple more. Use them for cranking, topwaters and lighter chatterbaits.

I don't have one of these, but would consider it if I was looking. I do have a Lew's rod that I like a lot.
I have one and love it
