    MBR843 as a Chatterbait rod?

Anyone ever do this? At the moment I'm throwing them on a CBR847 and absolutely love it. Before I buy another one I was going to play with the MBR843 since I have a few of them laying around. I was watching Tactical Bassin' and Tim Little Mentioned a moderate rod and floro for grass and a normal med/hvy jig style rod for open water rocks, etc. Thoughts? Will the "non" moderate action hurt my hook up/land ratio? I primarily throw a 1/2/3/8 with a Zako trailer if that matters....

I've thrown chatterbaits on the MBR843, JWR853 and CBR847. I much prefer the feel of the 853 for this technique. The 843 was not bad but I like the additional control and backbone of the 853. I was not impressed with the 847.

I already know that for me, the 853 is too fast....I appreciate your input. I think I'm going to give the 843 a chance. Worst case I'll buy another 847.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've seen quite a few recommendations on this forum for using the MBR 843 for chatterbaits.

If you haven’t tried the imx pro 883 it’s a good one...have only had it a couple months, been working great for me

I prefer the MBR 844 for what you describe. A 3/8 oz chatterbait with trailer and a 1/2 oz chatterbait with trailer will be close to 1/2 and 3/4 oz respectively.

An 843 would work, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

If you love the CBR...why change?

You never hear anything about the IMX Pro 883 Bladed Jig Rod. Black Haze is the first person I've heard mention the rod. Does anyone else use the 883?

    844 is better IMO

I may have to look into this. Hopefully LBF will have a sale on Loomis rods soon...

That's what I use in the newer GLX series.

I use the original GLX 843/844 depending on size/cover and whether using braid or mono - but I agree it's not the ideal rod. I'd use a Dobyns 735/736 CB Glass as dedicated chatterbaits rods, but as a co I try to keep my rod count low so have to make some comprises.

That being said, I'm considering moving to the 735/736CB Glass combo as the 735 can also cover mid cranks, spinnerbaits, even some topwater and the 736 can do larger cranks like 5/6XD, large squarebill, larger spinnerbaits, big topwater, even some swimbaits...

I've used the 843 but prefer the length of the 903 for open water chatterbait situations instead . All in all though, the 7'2" glass expride is better than both for this technique.
