From Honda 150 to Yamaha VF200XA Flash Question

I'm considering the VF200XA on my bay boat. A buddy of mine went from a F200 to the VF250 and gained about 20mph top end and a TON of holeshot. My little Honda 150 on my 200HP rated bay boat just isn't cutting it any more. Can the 2021 200SHO be flashed? What kind of real world HP could I expect from an overall performance flash on the VF200? Thanks in advance.

I would really consider the reliability of the F200 vs the VF200.

Coming from a Honda with a history of reliability, I would research both the F200 and VF200.

The F-series is likely the more reliable (over hundreds of hours) over the SHO.

Can be flashed to 300hp. From what I can remember, 350+ at the power head. Talk to H/T. CJ

I may be wrong on this but! I think I've read somewhere that the newer F series Yamaha have the same plasma cylinders that the VF has. The cylinders have been used in a lot of engines aside from outboards with good results. But they all run well over 200 degrees, allowing their rings to seat more easily.

F200 and VF200 are completely different outboards. F200 is 2.8L 4 cylinder and the VF200 is a 4.2L V6. The old F200's where 3.3L V6's. Is that the 200 your buddy had ? The new F200's are great motors but they certainly don't have the grunt of the new 4.2 V6's. The F200 2.8 has cast iron cylinder liners vs the plasma coating in the 4.2
