    Sayings that people don't understand

Reading the post on identifying a clamp made me think of a phase we used to use at work. If we had to clamp something down to a bench we would Ellie May it.

"Down the shore" It is the way most of us Jersians say going to the beach. If we are on vacation in a different state and beach/ocean are north of us or east of us, it doesn matter. if we are going to the ocean we say we're going "down the shore"

"Stove up" as in his L/U was all stove up after hitting that rock. If the damage is real bad it's "stove all to hell."

My grandpaw would always say that he was "all stiff and stove up".

I've always referred to a Hank Snow as "I'm a Moving On" that was one of his signature songs....Emmy Lou Harris did a great rendition of it later on.

A few more that sort of pertain to a Hank Snow

"Let's make like Moses and the Read Sea and Split"

"Let's Make Like a Cow Chip and Hit the Trail"

"Let's make Like a Sheepherder and get the Flock Outta Here"
