    Buying a pre-owned Ranger RT 198p

I am looking at buying a used Ranger RT 198p. Is there any issues I should expect while the boat is still under warranty hull failure, carpet, electrical, etc. If so, how does ranger handle any of these issues. Thanks! any info would be appreciated.

You get ten years of hull warranty if you buy it in the first five years as the second owner. My experience owning three Rangers is they take care of warranty issues. My 2017 RT188 is the first one of theirs I've owned that hasn't had one warranty issue.

I believe the 10 year warranty is pro-rated. You have to take it to an authorized dealer within 30 days of purchase for an inspection and pay $200-250. If the boat is 5 years old, you get a 5 year warranty. If it’s 2, you get an 8 year. The Ranger website has the warranty language on it.

I think you’re right 791. Lifetime for original owner and a total of ten years from in service to the second owner. That’s the norm for most brands, Cat offers lifetime no matter how many owners. But, you have to get them inspected at an authorized dealer as well.

Let me clarify my question. What problems have we seen with the 198P that was warranty work?

Some have posted issues with cracked hulls. Something about .1 thick aluminum on a 60mph rig.

No issues here. You can see I have my rig weighted down and have ran in some very rough water conditions. (Few times I wish I didn't have too. But had no choice.)
