My 2017 xrd valve broke I ended up taking it out plumbing a hose straight through and used a 9/16 plug on the outside. I have to pull the drain plug anyway.
I agree. I have been using a plug inside the livewell. I have the valve open now and will probably just do as you are and plug from the outside.
I think flow-rite offers a conversion kit to use their switch with an adapter bezel.

Tom gave all the information to change it over but i decided to just leave the valve out so no problems in the future.
