Setting TPS on a 99 250 EFI merc

I have the harness and when I check my TPS setting my multimeter I get a “.L” and this happened with two different meters. The way I understand the procedure I hook up the harness, turn the key to run and I should see my .95 + or - .05. Is this a symptom of the TPS going bad? I have a little bit of a lean sneeze that I am trying to cure. Any thoughts? I made sure the battery was fully charged...

I will post the serial number when I can grab it.

    thanks for the help!!!

What reading do you get when you check voltage on the battery terminals?

At the end of the day it was at 12.47 on the battery terminals. It is a three day old X2 31 group AGM.

Nope just the .L which I’m assuming means low. I don’t know if both of the multimeters the reading falls below the threshold for a reading. I get a .L at full throttle as well. I’m alittle confused, the boat seems to run fine....

Are you using the TPS Test Harness? Which Part Number?

Make sure you have the Red (+) test lead to the RED test harness lead.

Black (-) Negative Test Lead to the WHITE test harness lead.

    Key on- check voltage.

Move the throttle roller away from the cam and see if the voltage increases.

Return to idle and see what voltage reads.
