    Shortened barrel (or Hub)

    Good afternoon BBC people,
is anyone running shortened barrel on there prop? I know there are a lot of bravo 1 props out there that have been shortened. I was wondering about other props as well , Tempest, Raker and other props , 4 blade and 3 blades. Results? How much was the barrel shortened?
Thinking of modifications to a 28 Raker.
    thank you !
    Dave

If you shorten the Raker it will blow out... People only cut the long flared barrels a little to reduce drag and stern lift. The raker has no flare and needs all of the length.

    Thanks Mike,
are you speaking of “blow out” as hole shot (ventilation)?

Also cutting flare improves bow lift. Cut too far on any barrel and you get blowout.

Because it reduces stern lift.... Sea saw action.

On surfacing props. Not so much on buried props. I"m the guy who started cutting the flares over 15 years ago. I know a little bit about it.

Picking up my 28P Bravo I had cut down for my boat with a Torque Master. I'll report back after I run it to see if I no longer have stern lift like I had before.
