    Helix 12 Gen3-AS GPS HS-perplexed

Ok, I just disconnected my AS GPS HS from one of my Solix units and plugged it directly into my Helix 12. It worked fine with the Solix, but I do not see it in the Helix's GPS menu. All I see is the Helix internal GPS. Am I missing something?

Would having the Helix unit networked through the ethernet switch cause it to not recognize the puck? As an aside, I am getting my GPS data through a Point 1 on the two Solix units via NMEA.

I'm using NMEA 2000 for my Solix units. But the issue I'm trying to get figured out is with my Helix. I have the AS GPS HS plugged directly into it and it's like it's not there.

Just from memory but i think the Nema 0183 output has to be turned on to communicate with the heading sensor. Then the heading has to be selected to show in the chart menu. Im sure wayne will be along soon if this doesnt help.

No you don't have to do any NMEA0183 setting.

If the AS GPS HS is functioning, it will automatically be used when connected to a Helix.
The only thing extra you can do is turn on the Heading Line.
It will be shown as the GPS source in the GPS Diagnostic view as External. and will be listed in the Network Source in the GPS column as Ext.

Connected to a Helix, the unit automatically uses the compass (heading sensor) unless you intentionally turn off Auto

I have verified that the AS GPS is working Wayne. Do you think that the fact that the Helix is networked with my Solix units that are receiving their GPS data via my Point 1 through NMEA could be the problem?

What is your Network setting for GPS in the Helix's menu?

You don't have it selected and it is not picking up enough satellites to be of use.

It does not recognize the Point1 as being available.

Well I'll be dogged gone! It was right there in front of my face! Thanks Wayne, you're the man! I was wondering why they had the unit listed twice! Still don't understand it, but oh well.
