Mounting Balzout question

My Balzout mount (single model) arrived from the BCB parts store with mounting hardware but without a backing plate. Is a backing plate needed/recommended or will the washers do the trick? Who has mounted their single Balzout on the bow and did you use a backing plate? I’ll be through mounting it on the bow of a 2010 puma. Thanks.

I used fender washers for my backing worked perfect

From looking at their website there doesn't seem to be a backing plate, just fender washers with the installation kit.

Yes, fender washers are used.

When installing, use stainless hardware, make sure to use ant seize or you can use a bar of soap, grease etc.
