Pickwick Lake

I'm sorry if this is not the correct forum to post this but I am a Ranger Owner. I'm from South Louisiana and catching smallmouth bass is on my bucket list. I've heard that Pickwick Lake is in the top 10 smallmouth lakes in the country. I'm about 7 hours away. I just booked a cabin at Pickwick Landing Campground for late April. Is this a good place to stay? Any recommendations for a guide? I plan to pull my RT198P up to the lake and thought it may be beneficial to hire a guide for the first day then strike out on my on. Thanks for any responses and I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

One top guide for smallmouth on Pickwick is Steve Hacker. His site is www.smallmouth.com. As you would expect, his dance card is probably full. Another smallmouth guide on the lake is David Allen. There is an article about him at www.fishingbama.com. There is also another article on the site about three guides, but I don’t remember the names.
