    Ice out prediction.

So with the warmer weather what are your ice out predictions? This would be when you can get a boat in the water. I’m going to guess March 20th :-) I sure am ready I put new line on 2 reel tonight and made a few cast in the yard, boy feels good to play with gear. My wife and daughter got out of school early and went shopping in Omaha. My daughter (11yr) needs some spring/summer clothes I guess Lol not looking forward to the Scheels bill can’t seem to get out of there for less than $300 if they go shopping. I sure am hoping we don’t get a March blizzard:-( I guess we will find out soon.

It wouldn't surprise me if some lakes in southern Iowa have fishable open water next weekend. I was just out on the ice 40 minutes west of Cedar Rapids and there were spots of 14" thick ice. Wouldn't surprise me if it was still safe to ice fish next weekend barring any rain

I am leaving for Chickamauga on the 28th and need to get on the water before as I've had so much stuff torn apart on the boat this winter I need to make sure it all works before the trip. Might have to head south a ways.

i think there might be open water Saturday the 13th maybe? The smaller lake open first but I wonder if lake manawa might open in council bluffs by then?? How long does it take to get to chick from here?

So are any lakes iced out? Hoping to get out next weekend and was wondering. All the lakes in Omaha still have ice but it looks like some maybe open by next weekend.

Nothing in SW Iowa is open. I would say a lot of lakes have melted around the edges but still 4” to 6” in middle. I’m really hoping for Saturday the 13th but I think we will need some rain to really get things going. But we have about 8 days in a row that it doesn’t freeze at night so that will help a lot to. I got my boat 100% loaded and ready, it is close!!

Carter Lake was about 75% ice free today, and there were bass boats out running around.

Sweet I just went for a walk with my daughter and the dog and the little pond by our house is open. I think the wind today helped a lot. With a nice week coming should have a report Saturday afternoon.

Prairie Queen is wide open. Dock is not in yet as of about an hour ago. Not sure about the other Omaha area lakes
