Three Blade on a Mercury 300R

The Bullet arena has several 300R motor owners so I though I would throw this out on the Bullet forum. Has anyone with a 300R ran a 3 blade prop? If so what was the results? I have ran just about every blade out there on mine but still have not found the golden prop. I have never ran a three blade and can not remember seeing a post where someone has. Opinions and experiences welcome.

    Thanks

I don't think a three blade would give you enough wetted blade area in sq.inchs for the tourque of the 4 strokes.

That depends on the diameter... I wish Yamaha would make their T1 in a flo torq style hub... Great 3 blade. I've wanted Mark to make them for years. Solas Scorpion is a copy as well as PowerTech VMX, But they seem to fall short in performance and durability.

Never hurts to try with caution. My fastest prop on my 21xrd Yamaha sho combo is the fastest.

I actually asked PowerTech (they are local to me) to build me a 30-32 pitch VMX and they said that they would not make it for a 300R. I would love to find a modified T-1 or T2, which is a tougher prop, for the Flo Torq hub also. My SHO ran great with a 27 T-2.

If Mark makes one I will buy it....

I know a guy that runs a Solas Scorpion on his flashed 200 SHO on a 21XD Bullet. He runs a lot of skinny water & tears up props often & went to the Scorpion because they alot cheaper. His fav prop was a yamaha 3 blade...I caint remember which one, T1 or T2.

I never ran a T-1 on my SHO because I heard that they would fling a blade. The T-2 had a great 3 second hole shot and great top end also. I was very close to mid 80's with the 27 pitch. Great slip numbers that I can not get with a four blade from Mercury. Their five blades are better slip numbers but I have a slow hole shot. HydroMotive makes the Intimidator III but the description of the prop on their page keeps me from trying one intimidator-iii .

What are your best props now? Have you tried the CNC 5 blade (300)? or the Hill 5 blade 15 degree 15.5"? Might be worth a try.

Has anyone tried over the hub props such as a performer? That’s a big wheel and my Stroker loved the 3 Bullet cut and et on that prop. They make a four stroke cut now I believe

I have never had any luck getting out of the hole with any of the over the hub props I have tried but the few that I have tried were all Hill Signature props. Not sure if another brand would give me any different results as far as the hole shot is concerned. If I had the opportunity I would definitely bolt it on and give it a try.

I sold all of my 30-32p props when I sold my 300 pm but the biggest wheel I have left is a 28p pm. Are you running a sportmaster or torquemaster?

I am running a SportMaster lower. I just sold a 28 ProMax if that is the prop that you are referring to. Great Mid and Top end with it but very slow out of the hole and a lot of blow out. Do you have the Yellow Stroker I see on Toledo from time to time?

Yes sir. The 28 promax I have hooks up hard out of the hole but my 26 promax slips fairly bad.

I have seen you several times in Lanaan Bay. Great looking Stroker! I tried a 27,28, and 30 Pro Max and all of them were tough getting out of the hole with. After I got on plane they were hard to beat, I even had the 28 with a blow out ring and no cavitation ports. It did the best and alone I would run it anytime but when I threw a partner and a full live well in the mix it was hard to even get on plane. i just went into the Performer Prop and Mazco's online site....Both are old so I am thinking about giving them a calll to see what they have.

I would contact Kurt Mourer in Arkansas. Performer props are not made like they use to be. Has anyone tried a Razor on a basscat yet?

My 26p has a cav ring but the 28 does not. My sho was bone stock 200 and it would jump out of the hole loaded with the 28. That is on a Stroker hull.

I have never heard of the Razor.....please throw out a little more info and I will dig into it. I had a SHO 250 on my last Eyra and was spoiled with the hole shot. The 300R definitely has it on Mid and Top end but that thing would blast out of the hole in three seconds with a load. That was with a T-2 and the whole reason for this post or trying to chase down a three blade prop to try on the 300R.

I take that back .... I have heard of Mark's Razor props. Have not thought about contacting him on a build though. Do you think he might have something that would run?

I’m not sure. Its built similar to a bravo so I’m sure the low and mid will be excellent but unsure on top end. I was going to buy one once I got the sho flashed but the sho didn’t make it that long.

I may give him a call. Last time I spoke with him he was in a very big hurry so not much was gained or transferred. I am sure this is not the time of year to contact him....lol
