Gene, I haven’t had the pleasure of interacting with you on these forums but I understand the challenge of getting frustrated when asking a question, or even more so, of providing information to others who have asked. I believe you just need to identify those who have limited social skills and little decency and blow them off. The info you provided here was great and not many folks who have known or stepped up to find it.

    Thanks, Bill

I'm of the mind set of don't post things that appear as they are fact unless they are.
Newspapers do that all the time and then redact (maybe) a few days later in the section no one reads. Lets not take the way of the newspaper when it comes to information related to this forum. Talking about stuff you don't know about is for the water cooler.
It's up to you if you want to shut off the forum for a while, but I don't believe in begging people to stick around when they get their feelings hurt. Nothing personnel, I just don't care if someone feels that way.
Crap, where did I put that internet hurt feelings report. Carry on now...
You may want to take this crap someplace else, it definitely is NOT appreciated here!

I have a 93 379T with a 93 150 Johnson. They are great boats. Mine is a single console so it has the long rod box which is nice because it will hold any length rod I use. Compared to what most are fishing out of these days, the front deck is small and narrow, and the boat isn’t going to have near the storage of boats of today, but it’ll hold everything I need. These boats perform very well, and will hit 60 about as fast as anything out there. Mine has seen 63.5 and it’s not a Faststrike model (I think there are some minor differences with the carbs, but I don’t remember details). The boat handles rough water very well and “lands soft”. I’ve made it back on Lake Erie in some pretty rough water.

These engines are pretty easy to work on. The carbs are plastic and the carb bowls will warp and leak, but carb rebuilds aren’t bad to do. If you search the Evinrude Johnson forums there is all the info you need and some of the most knowledgeable people around. Also that 91 motor is supposed to be a real performer with different heads that actually made too much horsepower for the 150 rating. I think they were changed after the 91 year. If the compression is close on all cylinders and it runs good pull the trigger as these motors are as reliable as you can get for something 30 years old. They could last years longer or blow up the next day, but that can be said about any outboard.

The V-6 60* Eagle (code name) motors made their debut in 1991 That year was a one off motor meaning that some parts are not interchangeable with other model years. One major item is the crankshaft it was only used on the 91 MY. That being said the encoder wheel is also a one off and is no longer available. Should it get broken you are pretty much kaput. It does have the hotter heads but the 150 didn't come close to putting out 200 HP without some serious internal work. It is close to 165-167 HP though. The 175 will put out close to 190 hp though. It wasn't a mandatory recall from the plant it was a voluntary recall. Most owners were hip to what was happening and didn't partake in it. Some of the early models suffered from a casting flaw in the lost foam process while pouring the metal that led to a void in #1 cylinder. That can be spotted by the spark plug in #1 to appear it has been steam cleaned. Hope this helps.

Picked up the 93 javelin today. 150 ran strong, hole shot not so much. Put it in the water with 15-20 mph wind, rain and lots of chopI did notice 50mph@5k, but under those conditions not really sure.

Plan of attack is compression check, change out spark plugs, change lower unit oil, call Mark to see what he thinks about the 24p Raker ll and vent holes.
Steering cables need attention(replacement). Called Carol at C&O, she says I will need to change out rotary steering to rack & pinion due to parts availability, or go to hydraulic. More than likely stay with cables.
Other than that I don't know what I don't know.

Nice save Lynn, pics added at 7:28 this morning, , you sure it is a Raker 2? That has a progressive rake to the blades than the original Raker. The Raker has vent holes predrilled in it from the factory. Take the motor cover off and look at the top right side of the carbs where the throttle linkage is and inspect the throttle roller. There should be a clear sleeve over the black roller. That needs to be there. If not the throttle plates won't open fully. Operating range on the motor is 4500-5500 with HP rated at 5000 RPM.

Measured my prop to pad. Boat bottom level measures 14.375. Cavitation plate fin level, center of prop shaft measures 9.125. Prop to pad 5.125. I am not on a perfectly flat surface, its on asphalt that has a slight grade to it. High at the transom, low at the bow, but as long as the boat and prop shaft are both level I don’t think that is critical.
The jackplate has a scale on the side and I'm going to make a WAG that its saying 2.750. Pic attached
