    Boat Carpet

    Has anyone dyed their carpet.If so,how did it turn out?

    I have never done it. Generally replace the carpet. It might work.

    If you could trim off a small piece from under a lid or something and give it a test with the dye, that would probably give you direction. Also are you planning on dyeing while it's still in the boat. The dye might stain the boat. Test that in an unseen location. Otherwise just replace the carpet.

    When I renovated my boat last year I decided to dye the new carpet in certain areas to create two tone carpet. I used spray dye/paint that's made for carpet. The original carpet in the well was in surprisingly good shape (unlike the rest of the boat) so I decided to keep it and attempt to dye it to match (save on time/labor). It actually turned out really well and I've experienced zero bleeding/color fade to date.
