Never used Lowrance. 3D scan looks interesting (how do you all fine it)?

How do you all fine it performs on the water (not marketing codes/pics)

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts

For me, it works just like it looks in marketing. Most people don't have much to say about the 3D portion of it but I find uses for it. Like to see how steep a bank is. Even if you never use the 3D part of it, the Side and Down are top of the Lowrance line, IMO.

Strongly agree with above. I find it particularly useful in finding bass tight to the bottom on the sides of ridges and humps (displays in a different color than the bottom, which without 3D the target would blend with the bottom). There are many advantages and most don't realize them or take advantage of them.

    Thanks guys.

I’d love to hear your preference of head unit for 3D only.

I use the HDS LIVE-16 at the bow, and a LIVE-12 or 16 at the console, but I had great success with Carbons before that.

I have turned on the 3D a few times and the picture just seems real small, actually very small. Is there a configuration option to increase the width of the "path" of the 3D ??
    thanks

Use your fingers to adjust the width on the screen and you can also change to multiple angles so you can be watching at almost 90deg left or right just by dragging your finger across the screen to rotate it. You can also move it up or down like you were looking from the top of the water or down closer to the bottom. It’s a type of side scan where you can change the directional view that isn’t possible of regular structure side scan screen. Kinda hard to explain it, next time out just experiment with it and you will see what I tried to explain.

I use it mostly on deep clear lakes of the Pacific Northwest, and use it mostly in 20-70 feet of water. I also will use it shallower, in big rivers like the Columbia River.
