I have gotten a new to me Sabre with 175 Mercury 2 stroke and a 8 inch setback hydraulic jackplate. Where should I be running my jackplate for hole shot and top end. Currently have a 24 pitch trophy 4 blade on it but have a 25 pitch fury 3 blade.

You are not suppose to run anything larger than an 8” plate on most Basscats. What year is the Sabre?

Typo on the 9 but it’s a 2009.
EVERY single prop/motor/hull/load is unique. You've got a hydraulic plate, start low and go up until you lose lift/speed/water pressure then you'll know what too high is. Magic marker your plate THERE. Then and only then do you find just right. Change props? Do it again, then you'll find just right for it. Should take you about two minutes. Any other answer is going to be a guess.

Pat is correct of course. A couple of things I noticed about the 2017 Sabre I owned. It has a quick hole shot and was not picky about much. The motor did not have to fully tucked in, just close, and would still easily get on plane. The two props you have are good starting points. The 24P or 25P Fury or Trophy plus are right in the wheel house. The Furys will probably give you a bit more speed but the Trophys should give you a better ride.
Here is a thread on my experiences. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....408&highlight=

Prop will probably end up being somewhere around 3.75” PTP with the three blade Fury props. I’ve ran both 24 and 25 pitch on mine. I like the 25 a little better.

07 Sabre w/175 proxs-tried various props, but w6” plate & (yes you can run an 8”-per Basscat as they changed their stance on that and published it years ago) 25”Fury 3 blade at 3 3/8-70.94 gps lightly loaded. Carrying more gear now, I love my 24 Fury 4.
