Ultrex Heading Sensor

Just ordered my Ultrex and I’m curious to know when it comes to the heading sensor it says to wire it to a 12vlt power supply with a one amp inline fuse. Does the heading sensor automatically shut down over a period of time or does it need to be wired into a switch ? I did read on Minnkotta’s website it will not loose its paring with the trolling motor if it looses power just didn’t see anything about wiring it into a switch or if it shuts down on its own. Any input as always is greatly appreciated.

Wire to main switch on boat that way when you power everything down it’s off. Once your pair the sensor to the TM it will automatically pair itself when both are turned on
