    Potomac pre-spawn fishing.

The groundhogs don't last long around here. Once the daffodils pop up, it's about 2 weeks till pre-spawn fishing starts.

Good looking gun. What type and caliber is that?

That's my tuned & internally suppressed Benjamin Murader 22 caliber bolt action PCP air rifle. Deadly quiet and accurate out to 100 yards.

Really, that early? I have heard some of the real good river fishermen say you have to get out there way earlier than you think.

I've seen perfect grass in places during late Feb but it all depends on what happened with ice during the winter. Gotta go look based on what my logs tell me from past years. We have not had any real hard/thick ice ups this winter.

We continue to have rain and overnight temps in the 30's-40's with minimal movement in daytime water temperature which is averaging 40°. No big change in the next week+ forecast. My friend William's personal weather station located on the 1st dock in Accapoo beach cove recorded a high tide water temp last week of 46° one day at 4PM. It's going to be awhile longer.

Now were going to get a 5 day stretch of 20's overnight. This may end up like 2012 where we just went from winter to summer.

That seems to be more the norm anymore, late winter straight into early summer.

False start I think. A few days into upper 60's/70 then back down into overnight lows in the 30's again with rain for the following week.
