Has anyone mounted their group 31 trolling motor batteries using something other than the Bass Cat trays? I like the trays however I'm just plum out of money to drop $120.

Yes, just used regular old plastic Attwood trays.

Yes. I used just plain old plastic trays. Cheap. I don't think I even needed them though.....I went to the Sam's Duracell AGM batteries and don't think you would even need a tray with them. They are totally enclosed... As a side note...buddy those things are tough to get in and out. You need a big bowl of Wheaties that morning.

BCB also sells aluminum base only battery trays with a strap. They work quite well.

I recently replaced my series 24 starting battery with a 31 series Duracell in my Triton TX18 boat. I still have 27 series trolling motor batteries.
I just cut the ends off of the plastic tray the starter battery was in. The strap still holds the battery in place just fine. There’s not much room for it to move around anyway.
^ This..cut the end off with my dremel.
