I’m sorry to hear that sir.. it sounds like bi-polar depression to me. Most people who suffer from it have no idea. Every minute, or every day can be an up or down. I’m only conveying this because you asked for our thoughts. Anything can trigger the up ,or the down. There is no set pattern. There are many underlying causes and still a lot of speculation as to its root, but rest assured, there’s nothing anyone could do to prevent it but him. It’s hard to step back and see ones self. Even harder when your mind begins to wander away from home base. Rest easy and know that this young mans mind wandered away from him , and had he reached out there would be a different beginning.. I’m very sorry for your loss sir.. I lost a very close friend this past year in very similar circumstances.. she was a long time friend/client.. she gave me run of her farm to hunt as I pleased. She was generous and kind. Outgoing and vibrant. Then she would just shut down. Her children, who are my age referred to it as in the hole. I spoke daily to this woman.. she was like a best friend/ grandmother/ life coach..she like myself was a realist. Only she would loose her way from realism, on occasion.. and now, like your stepson she is gone.. I have no words or advice for the days to come other than to console your wife and loved ones.. and being a realist I will be straight forward with you . Time does not heal all wounds.. so you can expect that the grieving process may be a long road to travel. Stand tall. Stand strong. And be there.. that’s the only thing you can do. I wish you the best and your wife as well..
