Some have questioned as to why the BBC Boards aren't showing as secure, SSL/https on Google and other browsers; I thought I'd address that.

1. The vast majority of websites on the Internet are not secure as they don't need to be.
If a website is selling products/services and accepting credit cards they need to be secure and have the ordering encrypted. We don't sell products/services and therefore don't accept credit cards.
Google decided years ago that they would show every website in the world as not secure even if there was no reason to make a site secure.

2. Members on the BBC Boards don't have any personal information on here. Having your name/location in your profile is not personal information.
If you have it clicked in your profile that other members can email you through the vBulletin system they don't know your email address unless you reply to their email.

3. Some think that having a website https/SSL secure will prevent hackers from hacking the site; if would be great if it were that simple but any website in the world can be hacked, as we've seen
over the years with many large websites including government websites being hacked.

4. I would make the BBC Boards https/SSL secure if nothing else but to not have Google and others show us as not secure but there are a number of reasons why I could end up with many problems
trying to make it secure and I'm not about to risk that just to please Google.
